Call for Entry for the First Annual South x Southeast Director’s Award

Jurors will choose one Grand Prize Winner who will receive:

$500 cash prize

An invitation for a Solo Show at South x Southeast photogallery in 2019

An invitation to attend a South x Southeast Workshop of Your Choice

Feature Article in South x Southeast photomagazine’s August/September 2018 issue

Jurors will also choose FIVE PHOTOGRAPHERS who, along with the Grand Prize winner, will be invited to show their work in a group show at South x Southeast photogallery April/May 2018

An Artist’s Weekend with Opening Reception will be held April 7th

BARBARA GRIFFIN

Barbara Griffin is an independent Creative Director and Photo Editor. She serves as Board President for Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP), a non-profit arts organization which produces the largest annual community-oriented photo festival in the U.S. Formerly, Barbara was senior vice president of Image Management for Turner Broadcasting, responsible for all photography created globally for Turner’s entertainment, animation and news networks.

Currently at work on multiple photobook projects, she also served as photo editor for Sweetheart Roller Skating Rink, the award-winning fine art book by photographer Bill Yates. A frequent speaker on professional photography, she’s a member of the International Center of Photography, APA, ASMP and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

HOW TO SUBMIT:

The Call for Entries for the SxSE Director’s Award is an open call for bodies of work, series, and portfolios. Work must have been made within the previous 10 years. All photographic processes are acceptable. This competition is open to all photographers worldwide over the age of 18.

JANUARY 15, 2018: Deadline for Entries

February 15, 2018: Notification to all photographers who entered

March 15, 2018: Work received at South x Southeast photogallery for group show of 6 juried-in artists.

April 7, 2018: Opening Reception and Artist’s weekend – more info to come.

USE: Artists will be credited for any use of their image by SxSE. Artists grant SxSE the right to use their images for the promotion, marketing, and notifications on social media, SxSE websites, email promotions, and other advertising. There will be no additional compensation for use of their images. Artists retain all copyrights to their images.
